Lisa Rayar: where French fashion meets Indonesian textiles
How can two cultures enter into dialogue without erasing what makes each of them unique? French designer Lisa Rayar and Indonesian designer Gabriel Marcella explored this question with Au Large, a collection born of their meeting at the PINTU residency. Presented in Jakarta at the JF3 Fashion Festival 2026, it reinterprets Mojokerto batik through French maritime inspirations and a contemporary cut.

In her work, Lisa Rayar develops womenswear with assertive volumes and carefully crafted constructions. Her approach gives pride of place to materials, artisanal creation and the reuse of textiles. She champions a vision in which creative rigour can go hand in hand with more responsible production.
With Gabriel Marcella, who explores traditional Indonesian textiles through contemporary silhouettes, the designer brought two perspectives on fashion into conversation. Their collaboration does not seek to make influences uniform: it lets them coexist. Batik becomes the starting point for a conversation between Indonesian heritage, French sensibility and the craft of cutting.
Through Au Large, Lisa Rayar shows how the meeting of cultures can open up new creative paths. A collection that turns clothing into a space for dialogue between France and Indonesia.
